The
location of the house is on Black Point in Kahala, which
is the premium residential district of Honolulu, but specifically,
the home is on Black Point, the most exclusive area
of all of Honolulu. Black Point is where the Doris Duke estate
is and where the home of Duke Kahanamoku lived (actually
2 doors down from us), the famous Hawaiian who made surfing
famous
and was an Olympic champion from the early 1900's. The lane
of Royal Circle has homes from the period of 1922 to 1935,
all in the Hawaiiana style and is very unusual in that regard.
The
community is very upscale, with shopping and restaurants
from very comfortable neighbor-hoody in Kaimuki to the Mandarin
Oriental which is consistently rated among the best hotels
with some of the best restaurants in Hawaii.
With Honolulu
at your doorstep and Waikiki just moments away, shopping
is extraordinary. From designer boutiques to Pret-a Porte,
to
antiquing and browsing through decades old establishments,
Honolulu is truly the capital of the Central Pacific. It is
neither American or Asian, but is what it always was, a melting
pot of cultures, cuisine and style that is unique in this world.
We
can provide listings of restaurants upon request. but the
dining is world-class, and the markets and farmer's markets
of organic produce remind one of Santa Barbara! The beaches
are as close as 50 paces or 50 miles depending upon your choice.
World class diving and
snorkeling are just 15 minutes away and the challenging
surf
of the North Shore is less than an hour away, but you have
a beautiful reef, surf and ocean access at your doorstep.
Our more accomplished surfer friends say the surf at the end
of our street is challenging, and private, as only
locals know about it....kind of special
